So this morning I just finished the book of Jeremiah. Reading the the the prophets of the Bible can be a bit difficult at times but I love it when I come across a passage the seems to speak truth like a megaphone. Now, I’m not a Bible scholar but here is a bit of background as I understand it. The last several chapters of the book of Jeremiah are messages from God to various groups and tribes. I think that an over-arching theme of these messages is “because of the way your are living, discipline and destruction are coming.” Then, in Jeremiah 50:4-6 we find this passage:

“Then the people of Israel and Judah will join together,” says the Lord, “weeping and seeking the Lord their God. They will ask the way to Jerusalem and will start back home again. They will bind themselves to the Lord with an eternal covenant that will never again be broken. My people have been lost sheep. Their shepherds have led them astray and turned them loose in the mountains. They have lost their way and cannot remember how to get back to the fold.”

Here at Adventures in Missions, we see high school students, college students, and adults from all walks of life. They come from a variety of backgrounds, denominations, experiences, and places on their spiritual journey. We believe that God wants us call out and equip a new generation who will “join together . . . . weeping and seeking the Lord their God.” We get to challenge a new generation of world changers to break out of the “norm” and live an “other’s centered” life as we help to train them, equip them, and send them out for 1 month, 2 months, 9 months or even a whole year.

There are so many idols and distractions that are adding noise to our lives that often times it is hard to hear the leading of God. Heather and I are so honored to be a part of the wonderful team of AIM that tries to help people filter through the noise, learn the voice of God, respond to his leading, and go and change our world.

As a kid playing baseball my dad you used tell me that I had to see the hit or the play I wanted to make in my mind’s eye before it happened. After envisioning it, the challenge was to go out and do it. In a similar fashion, I think we need to “dream BIG” with God the great things we desire to see him do.

Heather and I are helping train and pour into an awesome group of leaders that will be leading this next generation of world changers. We are challenging them to drink deep the things of God, to dream BIG, and to inspire their participants to do the same. On Monday the new generations of world changers arrive from all over North America and we are excited to see all the amazing things God begins to do that we have hoped for, prayed for, and envisioned. We invite you to “dream BIG” with us and to join with us in prayer for our leaders and participants that will be sent out in a few short weeks to change our world.

Dreaming BIG!!
